Next to the Middle East, this small restaurant is relatively new and attracts it's own crowd. Definitely worth stopping by this offers an interesting mixture of middle eastern and mediterranean flavoured drinks. Along with a decent bar, this is a really popular local stop. This is more than at times, as also occasionally offer entertainment in the form, of music, dj's and movies projected on the wall. This is a moderate-high price range.

Mary Chung's is renowned for its incredible dishes that you can't get anywhere else. Try the Suan La Chow Show or the Dun Dun Noodles (No Chicken). Of course, they also do a great job on Chinese staples like Peking Ravioli. Dim Sum on Sunday is fabulous.

In spite of what the first part of its name suggests, Brookline Lunch is located in Central Square in Cambridge. Even more misleading is the second part of the name, because even though this tiny mom-and-pop (literally mom-and-pop, as the place is run by an affable husband and wife duo) diner does have a lunch menu, the breakfast is without doubt the way to go: omelettes, bacon and eggs, and pancakes usually coming in at well under six dollars per generous serving.
The restaurant itself is unassuming, and not in the self-conscious hipster way of other 'unassuming' Central Square dives. It is tucked away on quiet (by day, anyway) Brookline Street directly across the street from TT the Bears. Inside, the ambience is warm and cozy in the winter and hot and stuffy in the summer; try to get a booth by the door. The walls are exposed brick and covered with art from Out of the Blue gallery, another Central Square native.
Two menu items in particular which have recently brought me to the heights of gastronomic ecstasy are the chocolate chip pancakes (like giant chocolate chip cookies...for breakfast!) and the spinach and feta omelet. The latter of these two dishes is what I would venture to call my "stand-by", and always comes with a generous portion of home fries, steamed veggies, and perhaps most importantly, pre-buttered whole wheat toast. This toast can be topped, upon request, by a perplexing jam made of plums, oranges, and fennel--not my personal favorite, but certainly worth a try.
While naysayers of the clan of the Lunch often criticize the service for being slow, I prefer to use the word 'leisurely.' Brookline Lunch is not the place to grab a quick bite before work. It is, rather, the place to grab that first and highly necessary bite with friends while piecing together the events of the previous night in order to figure out why everything in your apartment is now soaking wet.

Since 2006, Rendevous has brought new and inventive North African and western Mediterranean cuisine to Central Square. Their philosophy is simple: the best ingredients make the best recipes. Using only local farmers and fisherman, chef Steve Johnson not only strives to make great food, the restaurant is all about the neighborhood as well and offers a 3 course prix fixe for $38 on Sunday nights. Also, Rendezvous was named Boston magazine's winner of the best drink menu for 2007.

It's dark, you're altered, and everything here seems familiar—a little too familiar. A large pear-shaped form beckons you to the counter; it's Grimace. He's always seemed friendly, and lately you've wondered why. Hamburglar is busily stuffing pies in his pockets, and the Fry Guys seem to be walking upside down on the ceiling. As a kid, McDonald's, with its Happy Meals, french fries, and playground, was always a blast. You never had a bad time here; and now, you're tripping (over a chair). What changed, you or Mickey D's? Who knows; and in the meantime, Grimace is becoming angry and the Hamburglar is pilfering your wallet. You don't have much time. Hurry! But you can't make out the menu! Yell “Cheeseburger! Fries! Coke!” and suddenly, everything's food, folks, and fun. Maybe nothing's changed at all...

The Phoenix delivers a uniquely hip fusion with “pub-style club music” of every possible genre (live music Tu and Th, Top 40 F). Vinyl tablecloths and funky recessed red lights set the stage for dancing college kids and chill twentysomethings. Typical bar fare until 10pm. The Phoenix opens earlier when English football plays on the weekend. Appetizers only $3.50 from 5-7pm, and Irish Breakfast is served on Sa. Beer and limited cocktails $4.25. Cover $3-5.

Has an all you can eat luncheon buffet for $6.95. Good services. This place although never packed, definitely is worth a stop by. It's got nice big windows which make the dinning room really nice midday. Conveniently located right in Central Square.

With a menu that changes “at the whim of the chef,” Central Kitchen is a trendy restaurant and bar that provides a fresh alternative to Harvard Sq. establishments. This modern French- and Mediterranean-influenced bistro puts a creative flair on its 6 appetizers and 6 entrees, all featuring fresh seafood, meats, or organic vegetables. Try the “Mussles from Brussels” or duck confit with spiced rhubarb ($10) to start, while the steak frites ($25) always garners praise. Reservations recommended F-Sa.
