Those who can stand the annoyingly repetitive store soundtrack and bright warehouse lighting can score cheap take-offs of the formulas that sister stores Banana Republic and The Gap have perfected. T-shirts ($8-13) and funky home furnishings live peacefully with polos ($10-15), jeans ($30-40), khakis ($30-40), and swim suits ($12.50). Most popular is their fleece ($19.50)—great for often icky Boston.

It's still astounding how this mediocre schlockfest of a restaurant can have waiting times of over 2hr on F and Sa nights. The “classically inspired” interior decor—Parthenon meets mega-mall—is the only thing more uneven and cloying than the food. Entrees and appetizers from the novel-length menu err on the sumo size of large, and some, though overpriced, are decent. But in all its breadth, Cheesecake sacrifices far too much depth—how could one kitchen hope to cover so many cuisines well? Fortunately, it's not the food people want as much as the rich cheesecakes—from the popular chocolate chip cookie dough to the exotic banana cream to Kahlua almond fudge ($6-9). Entrees $9-25.
