GRAFTON STREET

A yuppie crowd packs into the the upscale bar, complete with a sleek windowed facade through which passersby can gaze in on the many clean-cut martini-sippers. Drinks and appetizers remain pricier than other Square bars, but few night spots offer a classier, cozier experience. Grafton offers 11 beers on tap, plus hard cider. A late-night menu adds taste and elegance to the usual pub fare, with artistic appetizers like Main Crab Cakes with chipotle remolade and sweet pesto sauce ($10.25), creative sandwiches ($8-$13.95), and thin-crust pizzas ($8-9.50).

I tried Grafton Street for the first time last night. It was fantastic! We were there for a friend's birthday and were seated at a great circular table tucked in a corner. The service was great - our waitress was super friendly and really attentive. I had the steak frites which is served with a dab of blue cheese butter. Very tasty. The accompanying potatoes were a little too crispy for my liking - more like potato sticks. Friends were all pleased with their meals. Dessert was scrumptuous - we shared the chocolate chip cookie sundae and the chocolate cake. Their prices are very reasonable. There's a valet for a mere $12 if you don't feel like hunting for a parking spot in Harvard Square. In the end, we all left stuffed and happy!
