Fresh Pond Ballet offers eight levels of classes beginning with two year olds, and continues through teens and adults. Younger children's classes are grouped by age, but in the more advanced children's classes skill and level of training are also important for class placement. Pointe is begun in level four, but only for properly prepared dancers. Teen and adult classes round out the program.

Joie de Vivre has all the toys you wanted as a child but never got. A wonderful place to find the perfect gift for friends who refuse to grow up or that ever-entertaining etch-a-sketch ($20) for yourself. Wacky knick-knacks, like a rubber ducky piggy bank, eclectic wall hangings, a vast selection of rubber stamps ($4-7) and wind-up toys are sure to add to life's joy. A bit more intriguing are the Scrabble earrings ($8) and Therapy flashcards ($14).

This is definitely one of the most delicious stops around. You cannot go wrong with any of the fantastic desserts on display. The pleasant counter help and seating, though sparse makes this a great stop for anyone taking a stroll through cambridge.

The bubble (or tapioca pearl) tea phenomenon may have begun in Taiwan, but this Vietnamese café presents no less than 63 bubble teas, tropical fruit shakes, tea lattes, and smoothies (all drinks $2.75-5). Flavors such as jackfruit, rambutan, sesame, and lavender make traditional mango and strawberry seem downright dull. The friendly staff encourages you to bring your books and study at the bonsai-bedecked tables. When bubbles and BS50 leave you feeling empty, make your stomach happy with phô (Vietnamese noodle soup, $5-6.25), rice-paper spring rolls ($4.50), or banh-mi, a baguette sandwich with cilantro, daikon, and your choice of meat or tofu ($3.50-5). Vietnam's French influence shows again in the desserts, which include fruit crêpes ($3-5) as well as more Asian green tea ice cream ($2.25).

One of the many undiscovered gems between Harvard and Porter, Tamarind House is a favorite of Thai cuisine connoisseurs. Appetizers ($4.75-6.50) venture beyond the expected incarnations of spring rolls, both fried and fresh, to surprising teasers like fried shrimp wrapped in crispy eggroll skin with ginger, and chicken wings stuffed with shrimp, chicken and vegetables. Nothing is over $7 on the lunch menu, while dinner entrees range $9-14, vegetarian $8-9. Delivery (617-278-2121) is free, but be prepared to pay an extra $2 per item.
