Perhaps in response to the conquistador of cuisine that is Felipe's, The Wrap has changed a little over the past year. The menu still features 4 kinds of burritos, and there's tabasco sauce on the tables, but the background music has shifted from Latin pop to indie selections, and the once glaringly bright seating area has been remodeled, with warm wood tones and dark furniture. Similarly generic but grown-up wraps include Mediterranean vegetable, Bangkok chicken, or Buffalo Chicken ($3.81-5.71). Smoothies ($3.33/4.25) and salads ($4.76/5.71) round out any meal.

While Harvard Square Optical eschews flashy chic decor in favor of a more friendly, old-fashioned atmosphere, its selection is entirely up-to-date and modern. Rayban, Armani, Bollé, and Silhouette frames, as well as cheaper but equally reliable brands, run anywhere from $30 to $200 (for regular glasses or shades). Contact lenses are available; eye exams are not.

If you can get around without knocking anything over, you'll find a great selection of 45s and LPs spanning all genres and generations at this independent music shop. Their CD and cassette selection, which pales in comparison to their records, is dominated by the '80s and early '90s. A seemingly out-of-place rotating CD display pays homage to rap and soul's greats at bargain prices ($6). A modest selection of DVD movies and music also available. Rare steals may be hidden in bins throughout the store, but be prepared to rummage for a while. Buying prices are established on a “record by record” basis, and selling prices range from reasonable to dirt-cheap. SA 10% discount. Location at 957 Comm. Ave. is double the size (617-787-9755).

STA really is the one-stop travel shop for students. Having built up a loyal following of students addicted to the helpful staff and great bargains, STA provides Eurail and Britrail passes, ISIC and ISIS cards ($22), around-the-world ticket packages, and hostel memberships ($28). But the best reason to come is for their low, low airfares, which are usually refundable or changeable for a small fee. You can check out their great fares on the STA website, but it's best to speak to an agent directly. STA also offers language courses abroad and adventure tours, as well as the ever-popular spring break packages.

This store squashes the competition (ha!) when it comes to racquet-sports gear and equipment. Lucky shoppers can find tennis bags for $20, blowout rackets (orig. $150) for $50, and discounted shoes for $30. Have your rackets expertly strung by the amiable staff (tennis $18 for nylon, $27+ for synthetics; squash $27 for nylon, 33+ for synthetics). For a one-time charge of $10 (squash) or $15 (tennis) that comes out of the final cost of a racket purchase, try out an unlimited number of rackets.
